About Professor Aleksandr Cariow

Aleksandr Cariow received his Candidate of Sciences (PhD) and Doctor of Sciences degrees (D.Sc.) in Computer Sciences from LITMO of St. Petersburg, Russia in 1984 and 2001, respectively. In September 1999, he joined the faculty of Computer Sciences, West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin, Poland, where he is currently working as a professor and head of the Department of Computer Architectures and Telecommunications. He published over 200 scientific papers in Russian, Polish and English languages, including 4 books and received 12 patents USSR. He was also a promoter of 6 doktoral dissertation and more than 100 master's theses. Prof. A. Cariow was the Chairman of the Informatics Commission, Polish Academy of Science (Gdansk branch) in the years 2008 – 2014. He has served on the program committees of several national and international conferences.

Functions and positions currently held:
• Head of the Department of Computer Architectures and Telecommunication
• Member of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems Council
• Member of the Polish Association of Informatics.

Honors and Awards:
• Multiple Awards of Rector of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin for research and teaching (2001, 2009, 2014)
• Medal of the National Education Commission, granted by the Ministry of Education of Poland, 2012
• Professor Title from the President of Poland, 2013

Advanced digital signal processing algorithms (in Polish)
Algorithmic tricks for digital signal and image processing (in English for foreign students)
